CIS/NEASC feedback
Finally, it is my absolute pleasure to be able to report that the feedback last Friday evening from the CIS/NEASC Visiting Teams was absolutely spot on.
The things they highlighted as commendations were:
-
Our school ethos.
-
How much we care about the students.
-
Our sense of community which they attributed to multiple ways we communicate with our community, to the number of ways parents have to talk to us, the amount of parental participation, and the fact that our doors are always open to meet with families.
-
Children feel comfortable reaching out and talking with their teachers when they have issues.
-
The amount of ways we have for CGB students to connect with others both before and during the pandemic (Round Square, LAHC, etc.)
-
Real world issues are dealt with in students’ learning – and students said they would love even more.
-
Child Protection Policies and Health and Safety.
The things they highlighted as recommendations were:
-
The need to continue our long term strategic planning (which got interrupted by the pandemic).
-
To see how we can utilise the governing structures in place to provide more support with the creation, implementation and improvement of CGB policies – and long term strategic plan.
-
Share more in terms of financial investments of our school with the wider community.
-
Create a Professional Development strategy that is even more equitable.
-
Reassess the appraisal cycle for staff.
What was wonderful about this feedback is that the recommendations all appear in our goal setting for next year (which was approved by the Advisory Board this week and included in the Annual Report) – and the commendations all made us feel so proud of who we are – but the best part was that there were no surprises.
The full report will be given to us in the autumn, together with the final decision as to whether we have been reaccredited or not. Watch this space. Once again, CONGRATULATIONS TO ABSOLUTELY EVERYONE!
Please stay safe over the puente, and do not take any risks by socialising, having sleepovers and parties with friends and family and ignoring biosafety protocols. (You can socialise safely more once school is over if you wish). But right now, it is definitely not worth it, especially when we are so close to being vaccinated. Getting sick can significantly delay your place in the queue for a vaccine.
Kind regards,
Robert Tomalin
