Strong Academic Core
CGB has a strong academic core
Students in Nursery and Reception follow the VESS curriculum, The International Primary Curriculum (IPC) is taught from Year 1 through Year 6; students in Key Stage 3 follow the International Middle Years Curriculum (IMYC) in Years 7 to 9, all students in Key Stage 4 sit the International General Certificate of Secondary Education (IGCSE) examinations from the University of Cambridge; and the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme is compulsory for all students in Y12 and Y13.
Throughout the school, the curriculum is delivered in English as a medium of instruction by qualified teachers whose first language is English. Instruction is student-centred and differentiated, and the most up-to-date, research based teaching methodologies are used. Visible Thinking routines are developed within the Primary Section to encourage a culture of thinking and learning from an early age and become active learners within their classrooms. Assessment for learning and collaboration within the classrooms across the whole school are two examples of how we put students in the “driving seat”.
CGB was the first school in Colombia to receive a double international accreditation
From the Council of International Schools (CIS) and the New England Association of Schools and Colleges (NEASC) from the United States.
Ninety five per cent of the classrooms have interactive white boards. The three ICT classrooms, mobile laptop rooms and classroom iPads sets encourage the use of technology as a learning tool and develop digital competencies.
Our IGCSE results improve every year and enable our students to be better equipped to face the challenges of studying the IB Diploma Programme, and the IB Diploma pass rate is above the world average. All of our students go on to tertiary education around the world and attend some of the most prestigious universities – many with scholarships. Nationally, the “Prueba Saber 11” (ICFES) exam results are consistently in the “Muy Superior” category.
