The words from one of our families leaving this year:
Good Morning,
On arriving at CGB in January 2015 we immediately felt welcomed and embraced the sense of community with everyone being so friendly and helpful.
We enjoyed 18 months of CGB life before Laura was suddenly diagnosed with cancer and this meant we had to return to the UK for her 9 months of treatment. We are so grateful to everyone, including Miss Colleen, who supported Heather and Matthew in the beginning, until they were able to join Laura and I in the UK.
During this time, key staff and members of the community kept in touch with us and one extra special moment stands out. This was when we received a video that Miss Janet had organised of everyone saying hello to us.
When we returned to CGB in February 2017, Heather and Laura were welcomed back with open arms. They were made to feel very special given the traumatic experience they had both been through.
Heather and Laura have continued to be supported by CGB in the last 18 months since our return. In particular, the Senior Leadership Team were extremely flexible in Laura’s initial part-time attendance at school, allowing us to park directly outside the front of school because Laura could not walk from Cafam and once she was able to travel by bus, Victor and the transport team were very accommodating especially as changes occurred most days at the last minute. The support our family has received from CGB has been none other than outstanding.
This all proves that CGB support is not just here in Colombia but extends across the ocean. When Mr Tomalin says that once a member of the CGB community, always a member of the CGB community wherever you are – is so true.
Thank You.
